The Cyprus Shipping Association was pleased to participate in the recent event of the Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Limassol, held on 20 March 2026 at the Amathus Beach Hotel, Limassol.
The Association was represented by its General Manager, as well as by its Chairman, Mr. Reginos Tsanos, who also serves on the Board of Governors of the Propeller Club.
Their presence reaffirmed CSA’s continued commitment to fostering strong international maritime ties and supporting initiatives that enhance collaboration within the global shipping community.
The event brought together a distinguished audience of maritime professionals, industry stakeholders, and government representatives, including the Shipping Deputy Minister, Mrs. Marina Hadjimanolis, whose presence highlighted the importance of such initiatives in strengthening Cyprus’ maritime ecosystem.
Following the completion of the formal proceedings, which included the approval of the annual accounts and the confirmation of the reappointment of the auditors, the President of the Propeller Club, Mr. Polys Hadjioannou, introduced the distinguished international keynote speaker, Mr. Amin Toufani.
Mr. Toufani delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking keynote address on adaptation and the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence in today’s rapidly evolving world. His presentation stood out for its depth, clarity, and powerful narrative, combining strategic insight with practical relevance for organisations operating in complex and dynamic environments.
A central theme of his address was the need for organisations and teams to go beyond continuous learning and embrace the equally critical process of unlearning—challenging entrenched assumptions, legacy systems, and traditional ways of operating that no longer align with the pace of change. In parallel, he highlighted the importance of reskilling and redefining capabilities, enabling organisations to remain agile, competitive, and forward-looking.
Particular emphasis was placed on the shift from delivering conventional products and services to creating performance-driven, outcome-based value. Mr. Toufani illustrated how leading organisations are leveraging data, AI, and human expertise to optimise decision-making, enhance efficiency, and deliver measurable results tailored to evolving client needs. This transformation, as he noted, is not purely technological, but fundamentally organisational and cultural.
Delivered through a highly engaging and visually compelling presentation, his keynote resonated strongly with the audience, sparking meaningful reflection and discussion on how both the maritime sector and the broader business community can effectively adapt and thrive in an era of accelerated transformation.
The evening concluded with networking among members and guests, further reinforcing the strong sense of collaboration and shared vision that defines Cyprus’ maritime community.
CSA remains committed to actively participating in such initiatives, contributing to industry dialogue, and supporting the continued growth and resilience of the maritime sector.
The Cyprus Shipping Association (CSA) was established in 1945, to provide a professional forum for the Shipping Agents of Cyprus. In 1954, following its registration under the provisions of the local Trade Unions Law, the Association became the official body representing the profession of the Shipping Agent in Cyprus. The Members of the Association are the leading and long established Shipping Agencies in the island.
The main aims of the Cyprus Shipping Association are:
As the spokesman for the Shipping Agents in Cyprus, the Cyprus Shipping Association ensures that its voice is heard on public issues affecting its members and contributing to the solution of all their problems. The Association also acts as liaison, negotiator and representative for its members in their dealings with the Government, the Legislature, the Port Authorities, the Department of Customs, the Business Community, the Trade Unions and all other interested parties.
With the Shipping Agent being actively involved in the operation and marketing of the Cyprus Ports, the Cyprus Shipping Association plays an important role in port affairs, taking part in the formation of policies applied and the solution to problems arising. The Association maintains close links with other local and international professional bodies pursuing common objectives. Its international affiliations include membership of the Federation Of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA), the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) and the the International Cargo Handling Co-ordination Association (ICHCA). At local level it is a member of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (C.C.C.I) and the Employers and Industrialists Federation of Cyprus (E.I.F).
The Cyprus Shipping Association further provides its members with a platform for the exchange of professional experiences of common interest and acts as a centre for the collection, evaluation and distribution of information on local and international developments relevant to the profession and the port industry in general. In a day and age of revolutionary changes and of enormous growth in competition, the Association places increased emphasis on the upgrading of the skills of its members and their staff, the technological advancement of their operations and the strategic planning of their activities.
